Sy Schlager, MD, Phd


Dr. Schlager’s professional experience spans several therapeutic areas, notably oncology; cardiovascular, lipid, and metabolic disorders; CNS (including Alzheimer disease); renal disease; infectious diseases (including HIV/AIDS); pain management; gastroenterology; and rheumatology.

Sy received his undergraduate training in biology at the University of Illinois and a PhD in microbiology-immunology from the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI/NIH), with primary research interests in oncology and infectious diseases. Dr Schlager left the NCI to become head of the immunology program at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Schlager subsequently received a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago. After several years in private practice, he entered the pharmaceutical industry to assume leadership of the AIDS/antiviral program at Abbott Laboratories. Later, he was one of the founders of Academic Pharmaceuticals, a privately held company concerned with the clinical development of orphan drugs. Sy also holds a Juris Doctor cum laude from the Witkin School of Law, Taft University.

In addition to having conducted basic and clinical research, Dr. Schlager has directed virtually every facet of clinical drug development in the pharmaceutical and drug delivery/medical device industries—from discovery to clinical trial design, regulatory affairs, and medical affairs—in small and large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Sy has published three books and nearly 100 scientific and clinical journal articles, book chapters, review articles, and abstracts. He also has published a monograph on product liability law and is a member of more than 20 professional societies. For the past 10 years, Dr Schlager has concentrated on medical education and communications. He applies his diverse background and significant academic achievements to the strategic development and preparation of medical education and communications programs and materials. In addition, he is an invaluable resource as a peer liaison to key thought leaders in a number of therapeutic areas.


John Leinen, Phd


John has more than 15 years of experience in the medical writing field. This includes writing and management experience with several healthcare communications agencies, a small pharmaceutical company, and a healthcare communications agency specializing in continuing medical education activities.

John received a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. Following postdoctoral research at the Ben May Laboratories for Cancer Research at the University of Chicago, he was employed for 15 years as both a research scientist and as director of several reference testing departments with two of the largest reference testing laboratories in the country.

In 1994, John joined the Healthcare Communications Division of Adis International as a medical writer. His responsibilities included drafting white papers, monographs, review articles, and journal articles reporting the results of clinical trials in the areas of diabetes and dyslipidemia, cardiology, oncology, dermatology, organ transplantation, psychiatric disorders, and epilepsy. In 1996, he became Editorial Director of a healthcare communications agency in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. In addition to serving as editor-in-chief for all publication efforts, John continued to write monographs, review articles, journal manuscripts, and meeting abstracts, posters, and slide-lecture presentations in the areas of cardiology, thyroid disorders, erectile dysfunction, periodontics, anti-infectives, and weight loss.

John subsequently served as Director of Publications at a small pharmaceutical company in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he developed and executed the publication plans for the company’s initial product offerings in the areas of sleep disorders, epilepsy, and pain management in patients with advanced cancer. In 2002, he accepted a position as Vice President of Editorial Services at Scientific Frontiers, a medical education company specializing in continuing medical education programs for physicians in the areas of pain management, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, hypertension, and In 2006, John became Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Trinity Communications, which specialized in publication plans in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, prostatic hyperplasia, and cancer, until assuming his present role at Therapeutic Window in 2007.


Jodi Inverso


Jodi has a strong background in the field of medical communications and developing marketing and promotional materials for leading global pharmaceutical companies and conference materials for nationally recognized associations for medical professionals.

She also brings several years experience of brand management and communication for a nationally recognized nonprofit organization. She successfully brought together the creation of materials, events, public relations, and advertising while keeping the goals of the nonprofit in mind.

Jodi graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a BA in Graphic Design and minors in Fine Art and Art History. After internships with a web design company, event planning company and pro bono design work for a cancer center, Jodi started her career as a Graphic Designer for a medical communication company. Jodi designed materials for several pharmaceutical companies, focusing on therapeutic areas that included arthritis, pain management, hypertension, diabetes, HIV and cancer treatment. Her scope of work included invitations, workbooks, website development and recruitment, CD-ROM packaging, newsletters, monographs for symposia, and materials for product launches and satellite broadcast series.

Jodi has also spent several years teaching computers at Trinity Episcopal Academy, conducting graphic design camps for children at Bucks County Community College, teaching adults at The Learning Studio as well as teaching graphic design courses at Mercer County Community College for both credit and continuing studies. Jodi is a member of NJ CAMA and former member of AIGA.
